ADOT - Notice to all bicyclists using Interstate 8
Eastbound I-8 closed to all traffic

The Arizona Department of Transportation is working on improvements to Interstate 8 through Telegraph Pass, just east of Foothills Boulevard. Currently eastbound I-8 is closed to all traffic, including bicyclists. This closure is necessary to ensure that the traveling public is safe while work is conducted. ADOT crews are in the process of removing rocks from adjacent mountain slopes to prevent them from falling into the roadway at a later date. As part of this work, crews will need to conduct controlled blasting the aid in the removal of these rocks.
Just like motorists, the interstate is closed to bicyclists too as a safety precaution. Please do not use the closed eastbound I-8 to travel through Telegraph Pass. Any bicyclist found trespassing in these closed lane could face potential fines.
Please help ADOT spread this word through the bicycling community. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to providing the community with a safe roadway.
